frequently asked questions:
+ Do you ship?
Yes we do offer complimentary white glove delivery into your home, shipping nationwide.
+ You say solid wood. But what about the back panel and your sliding doors?
You might be wondering if furniture craftsman use solid wood for the backing or sliding doors — but the short answer is no.
We use solid hardwood construction for the case as well as the drawers and leg bases.
When it comes to the backing of every piece we use a ¼” thick Veneer Grade plywood, as is industry standard.
When it comes to our sliding Danish style doors we use high quality veneer plywood doors.
Solid wood wouldn’t be suitable here for a few reasons: it doesn’t enhance strength, creates unnecessary waste, and can actually look less refined. Veneer isn’t about cutting costs; it’s about doing it the right way.
+ Do you still sell vintage furniture?
After 13 years of sourcing, importing and refinshing vintage furniture, we are no longer in the game. Our Handmade furniture collection is now our sole focus.
+ Will you buy my vintage furniture?
Sorry but we no longer buy and sell any vintage furniture!
+ Do you have a shop?
We are an online only retailer. We no longer have a physical location nor do we take appointments.
+ How do you recommend caring for my furniture?
For cleaning we recommend using a slightly damp cloth to wipe dust, avoid using any harsh chemicals out of a spray can. Any natural cleaners should do the trick for built up residue.
For scratches you can opt for a teak oil treatment: Wipe it on with an old t-shirt material and wipe it off. A brand we like is Starbrite. Another product is Howard's Feed and Wax (Beeswax) which also gives your piece a nice luster and hides scratches -- it can also be used in drawer slides and the Danish-style door glides we make for a smoother glide.
Obviously use coasters or trivets on tops for anything hot or cold to avoid leaving rings.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
+ Why don't you have a phone number listed?
:) We prefer not to be on call 24-7, but we check email pretty often so please send us a message: [hello@spacedout.studio]
We’re a small team, and the best way for us to keep track of your project details is through email. It gives us a clear reference for your request and ensures nothing gets lost in translation. Because we work from exact dimensions, photo references, and visual examples, email tends to be the most reliable and efficient way to communicate.
That said, we completely understand that sometimes you just need to talk to a real person — and we’re happy to jump on a call when it’s truly needed.
+ Hey, arent you sharkgravy?
Yes we were called SharkGravy for about 9 years but rebranded. Why? Because our name was SharkGravy.
+ Where are your pieces made?
When we say we're a Midwestern-based company here's exactly what we mean: Our furniture designs and business was born in Chicago, Illinois. The furniture is built by our team of highly skilled woodworkers in Northern Indiana. In 2025 our family moved to southwest Michigan where we get to be more hands-on with our builders, always refining our collection and developing more designs.
+ What is the turnaround time for the handmade furniture?
Estimated 12 week build and white glove delivery into your home from time of your order.
+ What is your return policy
Pieces are made to order so we do not accept returns unless there is damage that occurs during transit. Damage must be reported at the time of delivery so the shipper may return the item.
